What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device so it can recognise you on a return visit, or measure how the site is being used. They can be set by the site you are visiting (first-party cookies) or by other services the site relies on (third-party cookies).
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR, we are required to obtain your consent before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary for the website to work. We do that through the cookie banner you see on your first visit.
The cookies we use
This site sets cookies for one purpose only: anonymous website analytics through Google Analytics 4 (GA4). These cookies are only placed on your device after you give consent.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one anonymous user from another so we can understand aggregate site usage. | 2 years |
_ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Holds a per-property session state (replaces the older _gid cookie in GA4). | 2 years |
We have configured Google Analytics with IP-address anonymisation enabled and advertising features disabled. We do not run Google Ads tags, Facebook Pixel, or any similar marketing or behavioural cookies on this website.
Strictly necessary cookies
We do not currently set any strictly necessary cookies. The site functions without them.
Your choices
- The cookie banner. On your first visit you can accept or reject analytics cookies. If you reject them, no cookies are set.
- Change your mind. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser, which will trigger the banner again on your next visit.
- Opt out of Google Analytics everywhere. Google publishes a browser add-on that disables Analytics across every site you visit, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Browser controls. Most modern browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Doing so will not prevent you from using this site.
Where your analytics data goes
Anonymous usage data collected by Google Analytics is processed by Google Ireland Ltd and may be transferred outside the UK. Where transfers occur, they rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Google retains analytics data for 14 months, after which it is aggregated and deleted.
Changes to this policy
If our use of cookies changes, we will update this page and, where the change is significant, ask for your consent again. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision.
